It’s official! I’m so excited to announce my new, upcoming show, a tribute to one of my biggest inspirations, the one and only, the Queen of Soul - Aretha Franklin!!
She tops the Rolling Stone’s list of the world’s 200 best pop singers of the last 100 years. She has been awarded 20 Grammy awards, and has through 50 years been one of the biggest inspirations to generations of singers. By no coincidence was she given the name ‘Queen of Soul’, and few other artists deserve a tribute more than the fabulous Aretha Franklin!
I can humbly say that it is in deep respect and awe that I take this assignment on. Franklin has inspired me for as long as I can remember through a wide variation of genres within pop music. She has inspired me to do everything from soul, funk, R&B and gospel to pop. No matter what she recorded, she did it with such profoundness that it is impossible not to be moved.
Creating a tribute show for this remarkable artist has been on my wish list for years. Even if I never had a chance to see my inspiration live in concert, in a funny way our roads seem to have crossed throughout our lives. You will hear some of the stories where the universe has tied our souls together outside of space and time, and you will also learn a lot about the artists life and career.
In this show, I’m looking forward to singing some of Aretha Franklin’s biggest hit songs like ‘Respect’, ‘Think’ and ‘Natural Woman’. On stage, I will also invite local choirs to accompany me, and I can ensure you this will be a night to remember!
